What: | iRobot Corp. (NASDAQ: IRBT) will showcase a range of innovative robots and new capabilities at the 2006 Association of the U.S. Army (AUSA) Annual Meeting & Exposition. For the first time, the company will demonstrate the iRobot Future Combat Systems Small Unmanned Ground Vehicle prototype, or iRobot SUGV. It is a 30 pound portable robot that can enter and secure areas that are either inaccessible or too dangerous for humans.
Attendees will learn about the new 250 pound iRobot Warrior™, formerly known as NEOMover. At more than five times the size of the combat-proven iRobot® PackBot®, the Warrior can travel up to 12 miles per hour through rough terrain and up and down stairs, carrying payloads weighing more than 100 pounds. Currently in development, the Warrior can potentially be used in a variety of missions, including explosive ordnance disposal (EOD), battlefield casualty extraction and firefighting. In addition, iRobot will demonstrate various ways to customize the iRobot PackBot for specific missions, including bomb sniffing, sniper detection, route clearing, and radiation and chemical detection. The iRobot John Deere R-Gator™, a 1,500 pound robotized utility vehicle currently used for perimeter security missions, will also be on display in the John Deere booth No. 1347. |
